Maintenance Technician
Location: Swindon, Wiltshire.
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
On-site role

At Independence Products Limited, we are looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our team in Swindon. This is a great opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer who enjoys problem solving, continuous improvement, and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where safety, quality, and teamwork are key.

As part of our leadership group, you will help maintain and improve site equipment and systems while promoting a positive, safety-conscious culture across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and manage maintenance plans, TPM schedules, preventative maintenance, and CAPEX projects.
  • Carry out breakdown repairs, fault finding, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
  • Support machinery installation, relocation, commissioning, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Lead Health & Safety activities on site, including toolbox talks and safety initiatives.
  • Conduct electrical and mechanical fault finding using PLCs, multi-meters, schematics, and visual inspection.
  • Maintain records and procedures in line with GMP, QMS, and site safety standards.
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions.

Mechanical & Electrical Experience

Mechanical: Pumps, pneumatics, bearings, rollers, gearboxes, motors, and general repairs.

Electrical: Three-phase motors, sensors, relays, safety circuits, control panels, and LV equipment.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years’ engineering experience, including 2 years post-apprenticeship
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Proactive approach with strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lead problem solving and continuous improvement activities

Desirable

  • Machinery installation and commissioning experience
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations knowledge
  • PLC fault-finding experience
