Job Overview
Halo Medical is an established Paramedic led CQC registered ambulance service, we work in partnership with the NHS and we are now seeking dedicated and compassionate Ambulance Care Assistants to join our Patient Transport Service. This vital role involves providing safe and efficient transportation for patients to and from medical appointments, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a clean driving licence, and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks with care and professionalism. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient care while developing valuable skills in a supportive environment.
We operate 7 days a week, shifts duration varies from 8 - 12 hours. We are able to offer fixed shift patterns (3 on 3 off) or flexible ad hoc shifts.
Duties
- Safely operate a designated vehicle, including lorries or ambulances, ensuring compliance with all road safety regulations
- Assist patients in boarding and alighting from vehicles with sensitivity and respect for their comfort and dignity
- Provide support during transit, including securing patients safely and monitoring their condition as needed
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any issues promptly to ensure vehicle safety and reliability
- Handle heavy lifting of medical equipment or mobility aids as required, maintaining proper manual handling techniques
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare staff, and team members to coordinate transportation schedules and relay pertinent information
- Maintain accurate records of patient journeys, vehicle logs, and maintenance activities in accordance with organisational policies
Experience
- Previous experience as a driver, particularly in commercial driving or delivery roles, is desirable
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients, colleagues, and healthcare professionals
- Experience with vehicle maintenance or basic troubleshooting is advantageous but not essential
- A valid Full UK Manual driving licence with less than 6 penalty points
- First aid certificate
