Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an Escort – Transport Operations to support the safe transportation of vulnerable adults and children with additional needs across Glenfield, Leicestershire.

This role involves working alongside transport drivers to ensure passengers are transported safely, securely and with dignity. You will provide practical assistance before, during and after journeys, including supporting passengers with mobility needs and wheelchair users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist passengers safely on and off vehicles and ensure appropriate passenger restraints are used.
  • Assist with securing wheelchairs and specialist equipment within vehicles.
  • Support passengers with fitting and removing specialist seating and equipment where required.
  • Supervise passengers throughout journeys, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and dignity at all times.
  • Provide appropriate support to vulnerable adults and children with physical, behavioural or additional needs.
  • Assist service users at their homes, day centres or other collection and destination points where required.
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging or unpredictable situations.
  • Report accidents, incidents, safeguarding concerns and other difficulties to the appropriate management team.
  • Complete journey records, accident and incident reports and other required documentation accurately.
  • Communicate professionally with passengers, parents, carers, social workers, schools, colleges, care staff and members of the public.
  • Ensure passengers' personal belongings and medication are kept safe and secure while in the care of the transport service.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies in line with established procedures.
  • Assist with the safe unloading, securing and delivery of goods or equipment when required.
  • Work to planned transport schedules and comply with relevant policies, procedures and legislation.
  • Attend mandatory training and other relevant training sessions as required.
  • Wear the required uniform and PPE while on duty.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the role.

About You

The successful Transport Escort will ideally have:

  • Experience working face-to-face within a service environment.
  • Experience supporting or working with vulnerable people.
  • Experience maintaining accurate written records and documentation.
  • Experience with wheelchair transportation or passenger assistance is desirable.
  • Basic First Aid knowledge or training is desirable.
  • Knowledge of manual handling and safe moving and handling practices.
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Awareness of hazard identification and risk assessment.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults.
  • Knowledge of wheelchair and passenger restraint systems is desirable.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with people with varying needs and capabilities.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
  • The ability to use initiative and work effectively as part of a transport team.
  • Sufficient numeracy skills to complete time and journey records accurately.
  • A willingness to complete all required training.

Additional Information

This role involves regular contact with vulnerable adults and children with additional needs, including individuals with physical and behavioural needs. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a professional, patient and supportive approach.

An Enhanced DBS check with a Barred List check will be required for the successful candidate due to the nature of the role and the regulated activity involved.

The role may occasionally require work outside normal working hours depending on transport requirements and operational needs. Appropriate uniform and PPE will be provided.
