The Role

RIMA Medicals is seeking an experienced ENT Consultant to join our nationwide panel of medico-legal experts.

The successful candidate will undertake independent medical assessments and prepare clear, objective, and CPR-compliant medico-legal reports for personal injury cases. Instructions will be offered according to your availability and preferred clinic locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct independent medico-legal ENT assessments.
• Assess symptoms such as hearing loss, tinnitus, balance difficulties, nasal injuries, and other ENT-related conditions.
• Review medical records and relevant supporting documentation.
• Prepare clear, impartial, and evidence-based medico-legal reports.
• Provide diagnoses, causation opinions, prognoses, and treatment recommendations within your area of expertise.
• Respond to reasonable amendment requests and Part 35 questions.
• Comply with court deadlines and Civil Procedure Rules.
• Maintain professional independence, confidentiality, and accurate records.

Essential Requirements

• GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Otolaryngology.
• Current or previous experience working as an ENT Consultant in the UK.
• Appropriate professional indemnity insurance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to produce accurate reports within agreed timescales.
• Strong understanding of professional duties, confidentiality, and clinical governance.

Desirable Experience

• Previous medico-legal reporting experience.
• Understanding of CPR Part 35 and the duties of an expert witness.
• Experience assessing personal injury and clinical negligence cases.
• Expert witness training or relevant medico-legal qualifications.

Full guidance and administrative support can be provided to consultants who have the appropriate clinical experience but are new to medico-legal reporting.
