Field Service Instrumentation Technician

Summary

This is a field-based engineering role supporting specialist manufacturing and engineering industries across the UK, with a focus on the South West/Wales/Midlands Regions.

Starting salary scale £28,500 to £36,500 p.a dependant on experience

Our engineers work with major control system manufacturers, providing expertise in instrumentation and controls, installation, certification, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Calibration of Process Control Systems & Instrumentation
  • Programming & Installation of controllers and recorders
  • Fault Finding & System Analysis
  • Providing Customer Support & Response
  • Documenting Work & Administering Records
  • Project Engineering Support
  • Updating & Managing Instrumentation Data
  • Assisting in the Development of Customer Systems

Purpose of the Role

The primary objective is to provide hands-on instrumentation and process system support to our customers, ensuring high-quality calibration services and assisting with the integration of new technologies.

Person Specification

This role is ideal for technically skilled individuals who take pride in their work.

Moorcroft Controls provides specialist training in:

  • Instrumentation & Calibration Processes
  • Control Panel Manufacturing & Field Wiring
  • Electrotechnical & Process Control Engineering

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Organised & Reliable – Capable of working independently in a mobile role
  • Professional & Detail-Oriented – Strong focus on documentation and precision
  • IT-Literate – Confident with Microsoft 365 and office software
  • Customer-Focused – Strong communication skills and ownership of tasks
  • Flexible & Security-Cleared – Willing to work out of hours if required, with security clearance for restricted sites

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates should have a strong foundation in Maths, English, and Science, along with a passion for engineering and manufacturing.

We welcome applications from individuals with:

  • HNC/HND in Engineering (any discipline)
  • BEng or STEM Degree
  • ISO 17025 & Calibration Training
  • Experience in Controls, SCADA, or Instrumentation
  • Electrical Training (Industrial or Commercial)
  • Fault-Finding in Instrument Control Systems

We may also consider candidates with relevant experience in mechanical or electrical engineering who demonstrate a strong technical aptitude.
