Triton Risk Management is seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Response Team Supervisor to lead our Onsite Emergency Response Team, delivering rapid, professional, and effective emergency response services for major tunnel and underground infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will provide operational leadership during emergency incidents, supervise team members, maintain operational readiness, and ensure the highest standards of safety, competence, and emergency response capability are maintained across the project.
Key Responsibilities
Emergency Response and Rescue Duties
- Immediately assume supervisory responsibility upon activation of an emergency alarm.
- Respond to tunnel and underground emergency incidents, including personnel evacuation, casualty extrication, smoke-filled environment operations, and confined space rescue.
- Deliver pre-hospital trauma care to preserve life, prevent further injury, and support recovery.
- Provide initial fire response and containment using site-specific equipment and procedures until the arrival of the Fire and Rescue Service.
- Conduct search and rescue operations in confined spaces, low-visibility, and high-risk environments.
- Operate, inspect, and maintain rescue equipment, including breathing apparatus, stretchers, and communication systems.
- Lead and coordinate emergency response personnel during incidents.
- Verify incident information and escalate to senior management as required.
- Assess the nature, extent, and severity of emergency situations and implement appropriate control measures.
- Identify and manage risks to responding personnel and affected persons.
- Account for all personnel involved in an incident and establish the location and status of missing persons.
- Liaise with project management, contractors, emergency services, and other key stakeholders to support effective incident resolution.
- Develop, communicate, and implement dynamic rescue plans based on incident conditions.
- Utilise tunnel drawings, site plans, emergency procedures, and operational information to support planning and decision-making.
- Conduct incident debriefs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives following emergency responses.
Team Leadership and Supervision
- Supervise and support Emergency Response Team members during operational and training activities.
- Manage shift personnel and address day-to-day team issues in conjunction with management.
- Coordinate, deliver, and record ongoing team training and competency assessments.
- Ensure operational competency is maintained in line with the Training Plan and all qualifications and certifications remain current.
- Promote and uphold safe working practices across the site and promptly report hazards, unsafe conditions, or concerns.
- Participate in daily site visits, safety briefings, and operational meetings to remain informed of project developments and emerging risks.
- Maintain effective communication with other supervisors and operational teams to ensure a coordinated approach to emergency preparedness.
- Maintain a high level of physical fitness and mental resilience appropriate to the demands of the role.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in an emergency response role within the Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, Armed Forces, Police, Mining Rescue, Industrial Rescue, or a comparable emergency response environment.
- Previous supervisory, team leader, crew manager, watch manager, or incident command experience.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience leading emergency incidents and coordinating response teams in high-pressure environments.
Desirable Requirements
- Current confined space rescue certification.
- Current rope rescue certification.
- Valid first aid qualification
- Firefighting experience
- Instructor and/or assessor qualification.
- Incident Command qualification.
- Experience within tunnel construction, mining, underground infrastructure, or major construction projects.
- Breathing Apparatus Instructor or Team Leader qualification.
- Additional rescue, medical, or firefighting qualifications.
