Technical Claims Handler

Location: Liverpool or Sevenoaks (Hybrid across one–two sites)
Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday–Friday, 9am–5:30pm

Spotlightjobs are recruiting for a Technical Personal Injury Claims handler to join an existing team at a time of my client's exciting growth journey — In this role, you’ll take ownership of a portfolio of complex and high‑value Personal Injury claims, including multi‑track and litigated matters, managed within a Delegated Authority Agreement and reinsurance treaty requirements. You’ll also act as a technical expert within the department, supporting and guiding colleagues to strengthen capability across the wider claims function.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Managing a caseload of complex and high value PI claims with a proactive, organised approach and strong diary discipline
  • Handling claims confidently within your delegated authority and escalating where appropriate.
  • Ensuring accurate reserving in line with best practice and reviewing cases regularly to identify changes or concerns.
  • Reducing claims spend and leakage through effective investigation, negotiation and early settlement strategies.
  • Using sound judgement to drive claims to resolution at the earliest opportunity.
  • Understanding how technical claims performance contributes to wider business objectives and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Recognising when to instruct external experts such as solicitors, barristers, medical professionals, adjusters, investigators and rehabilitation providers.
  • Providing training, mentoring and technical guidance to less experienced handlers.
  • Supporting internal audits and contributing to ad‑hoc tasks as required.

Essentials

  • Strong experience handling Personal Injury claims, including complex or litigated matters
  • Confidence using your own initiative to explore all avenues and deliver the best commercial outcome.
  • A self‑motivated, organised individual who thrives with autonomy and manages workload effectively.
  • A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of case law, statute, CPR and Pre‑Action Protocols.
