Full job description

Job Overview

We are looking for a Water Treatment Engineer to join our team, working on the installation, servicing, maintenance and commissioning of water treatment systems across commercial, industrial and private water applications.

The role covers systems such as water softeners, reverse osmosis plants, private borehole treatment, rainwater harvesting, greywater systems, filtration, chemical dosing and associated pipework. You will need to be practical, technically minded and confident with both hand tools and power tools.

This is a role for someone who can think for themselves. Much of the work is carried out solo on site, so you must be able to diagnose faults, work through problems and make sound technical decisions using your own initiative, while also working effectively as part of the wider team when the job calls for it.

The role involves travel across the UK and you must be willing to stay away from home when required.

Duties

  • Operate, service and maintain water treatment equipment to ensure reliable performance and compliance with required standards.
  • Inspect water treatment systems, identifying faults, issues and areas for improvement.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems on site, using your judgement to determine the right course of action.
  • Complete routine maintenance, including cleaning, servicing, component replacement and basic repairs.
  • Monitor and record water quality parameters where required.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new systems.
  • Work safely and follow company health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Communicate clearly with customers, colleagues and management while on site.

Experience

  • Previous experience in water treatment, plumbing, mechanical installation, construction or a similar practical engineering role is highly desirable.
  • Experience with water softeners, reverse osmosis, borehole treatment, rainwater harvesting or greywater systems is preferred.
  • Confident use of hand tools and power tools is essential.
  • A good understanding of pipework, pumps, filters, valves and general mechanical equipment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements relating to site and water treatment work is beneficial.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
  • A problem-solving mindset and the confidence to use your own initiative are essential.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new systems, processes and technologies is essential.

Perks and Benefits

  • Company vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Company iPad and mobile phone to support site reporting, communication, technical documentation and day-to-day job management.
  • Professional training and ongoing development, with the opportunity to build technical knowledge across the full range of water treatment systems, including installation, servicing, commissioning, fault finding and compliance-related site work.

Location

This is a UK-wide role, with travel to customer sites across the country. Our main office and warehouse are based in Sheffield and the successful candidate will be required to attend the Sheffield site regularly for equipment collection, stock, meetings, training and general operational support. The role will involve time away from home, so applicants must be comfortable with travel and overnight stays where required.

Pay: £34,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company car
  • Private medical insurance
