We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the primary care team at HMP Wymott working night shifts.

HMP Wymott is a large, Category C prison in Leyland, accommodating approximately 1,200 adult males, and we have a varied and complex population. Practice Plus Group provides primary care, mental health and substance misuse services across the wings, clinic areas, inpatient facilities, and reception services.
Salary
£25,557 - £29,723 per annum

Hours

This position is full time working 37.5 hours per week.

Please note, this role requires flexibility and will include unsociable hours, such as weekends and night shifts.

The working pattern is a 2 week rota:
Week 1 - 4 shifts
Week 2 - 3 shifts
Shifts are 20:45 - 07:45


Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks

What you'll be doing

What You’ll Be Doing

You will support a range of duties overnight, including:

  • Support the registered nurse on the night shift on emergency response and personal care as needed
  • Carry out administrative tasks such as updating records and data inputting
  • You will be ILS (Immediate Life Support) trained by us onsite, as well as NEWS2
  • Acting as pharmacy second checker and assisting with medication rounds

What We’re Looking For:

  • This is a clinical role, so it is essential that you have experience in at least some of the following: Bloods (phlebotomy/venepuncture), ECGs, NEWS2, Health Checks, Physical Observations (obs), Wound Care etc
  • Experience of working within a clinical setting, such as a hospital (A&E would be a bonus) or a prison / secure setting
  • Care Certificate and/or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
