Full job description
We are working with a well-established organisation within the health and laboratory sector to recruit a Laboratory Administrator for their busy laboratory in Waltham Abbey.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-focused administrator to join a friendly, quality-driven team. Working in a fast-paced, regulated environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the laboratory by providing accurate administrative support, maintaining records and helping manage samples throughout the testing process.

The Role
As Laboratory Administrator, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the laboratory with a variety of daily administrative tasks.
- Maintaining accurate laboratory records and updating the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Managing the administration of laboratory samples, including referrals, transfers and non-conforming samples.
- Coordinating sample tracking, logging and associated documentation.
- Producing and releasing laboratory certificates.
- Scanning, filing and securely disposing of confidential documentation in line with data protection requirements.
- Monitoring laboratory stock levels and placing orders with approved suppliers.
- Responding to customer enquiries and managing correspondence through the shared laboratory mailbox.
- Assisting with equipment maintenance records, calibration checks and temperature monitoring.
- Raising quality documentation including non-conformances, deviations and improvement actions where required.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping throughout the laboratory.
- Supporting internal audits and quality management processes.
- Delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Participating in team meetings, training and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- GCSE-level education or previous administration experience.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and database systems.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workloads effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A professional approach with a strong understanding of confidentiality.
- Previous experience within a laboratory, healthcare or regulated environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
