Full job description

A well-regarded legal practice is recruiting three Paralegals to join its Court of Protection team in Plymouth. No previous paralegal experience is required.

This team supports individuals who lack the capacity to manage their own property and financial affairs, helping to ensure important decisions are made in their best interests. It is a role that combines legal work, meaningful client contact and genuine responsibility from an early stage — and an excellent opportunity to build a legal career within a supportive and highly regarded specialist team.

The Role

Working closely with experienced lawyers and fee earners, you'll help manage a varied caseload and provide practical support to vulnerable clients and their families. Day-to-day work can involve everything from preparing court applications to communicating with banks, care providers and financial institutions on behalf of clients.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the management of clients' property and financial affairs
  • Drafting applications, correspondence, witness statements and Court of Protection documentation
  • Liaising with clients, family members, care providers, local authorities and other stakeholders
  • Attending client meetings and preparing detailed attendance notes
  • Supporting the team with file management and general case administration
  • Helping ensure matters are progressed efficiently and in clients' best interests

About You

Applications are encouraged from individuals who can demonstrate strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable people and their families.

This role may suit:

  • Existing paralegals seeking a new challenge
  • Recent law graduates or those finishing studies now
  • Individuals with experience in care, banking, property management or other client-focused environments
  • Candidates looking to develop a long-term career within the legal profession

You'll also bring:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A professional and empathetic approach with the ability to build strong, supportive relationships with clients and their families
  • The ability to handle sensitive client information with tact and discretion
  • A highly flexible approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a busy team
  • Proven organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively
  • Strong IT skills including confident use of MS Outlook, Word and Excel

About the Organisation

Our client is a well-established and ambitious legal practice with a recognised reputation in this specialist area of law. The firm has an ambitious growth strategy that creates genuine opportunities for its people to develop and make their mark. The culture is built on being genuinely caring, inclusive and collaborative — with a strong commitment to professional development at every level, whatever your background or starting point.

What's on Offer

The firm offers a market-leading benefits package designed to support both professional growth and personal wellbeing.

The Process

We are committed to supporting your individual needs throughout the recruitment process which will typically involve two interviews. If you require any adaptations or adjustments at any stage, we are more than happy to accommodate these — please just let us know.

  • Bereavement leave
  • Company events
