Locum Medical Receptionist (6-Month Contract)

Location: Brighton, BN1
Job Type: Locum Contract (6 Months)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week, can be discussed
Salary: Competitive Hourly Rate

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join a busy GP surgery in Brighton (BN1) on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional and friendly receptionist with previous GP practice experience to support a well-established primary care team.

The assignment is expected to run for a minimum of 6 months, with the practice retaining the option to end the contract after 3 months if required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing a professional and welcoming service to patients
  • Managing incoming telephone calls and appointment bookings
  • Handling patient enquiries efficiently and sensitively
  • Processing registrations and updating patient records
  • Managing repeat prescription requests and administrative tasks
  • Supporting clinicians and practice staff with day-to-day administration
  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to GDPR requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Medical Receptionist within a GP surgery
  • Experience using EMIS clinical system
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong administrative and organisational abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy healthcare environment
  • Professional, reliable, and adaptable approach

Working Hours

  • 37.5 hours per week can be discussed
  • Mondays and Fridays are essential
  • Exact working pattern to be agreed with the successful candidate

Contract Details

  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Duration: 6 months
  • Potential review point at 3 months
