Senior MVHR Designer & Technical Lead

Reports to: Managing Director, moving into our wider leadership structure

Location: Predominantly home-based (UK), with occasional visits to site, our Macclesfield office and trade shows

Salary: £45,000–£65,000 per year, depending on experience

Hours: Full-time, permanent. Flexible around personal commitments

About the role

We’re in an exciting new phase at Solarcrest — looking for a senior designer to lead the rollout of our new Future Homes package.

Solarcrest designs and supplies high-end MVHR systems, working directly with architects and self-build clients from the earliest design stages (RIBA Stage 2–4), before a contractor is even appointed. We are the sole preferred partner of Airflow, manufacturer of the largest range of Passivhaus-certified MVHR units, were the first MVHR company to achieve government Trustmark status and have over 200 five-star reviews.

We only work on early-stage residential new build and refurbishment projects, with a Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) appointed and a full set of construction drawings available. We specify to the highest possible standard with no compromises to reduce cost — fire protection, advanced filtration and acoustic attenuation are included by default. Our clients demand the very best, and our reputation is built on delivering installable designs, not indicative ones.

We already deliver cooling through the MVHR and are expanding this service to include space allocation for other plant — heat pump, solar and battery — to avoid clashes and rework later in the project, as part of our new Future Homes package.

We need an experienced MVHR designer to own design coordination for our ventilation and cooling service — from the first client conversation through to a buildable, installable design. You’ll need the skills to lead and develop our existing design team, including our Revit technician and junior MVHR designer, so this is a senior, judgement-led role.

What we’re looking for

• Highly experienced MVHR designer, ideally with cooling/ducted AC experience
• Strong attention to detail and accurate material take-offs
• Genuine 3D spatial reasoning
• Strong BIM/Revit skills
• Excellent communicator, internally and externally
• Well-organised and self-disciplined — home-based role
• Comfortable owning design coordination, not just drawing
• Cooling/ducted systems experience a strong advantage
• Passivhaus / PHPP knowledge a distinct advantage
• Able to use thermal modelling outputs to steer design
