Medical Secretary / Administrator

Join our friendly Practice team and help us deliver outstanding patient care

Are you highly organised, a great communicator and passionate about supporting patient services? We’re looking for a proactive and motivated Medical Secretary/Administrator to join our welcoming Practice team. We are a growing practice team based at 3 sites. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of our day-to-day operations.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring patients receive timely, safe and coordinated care. Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting our clinical team

  • Typing clinical letters, reports and referrals with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Managing correspondence, appointments, bookings and admissions
  • Providing high-quality administrative support to GPs, nurses and the wider team

Keeping our information systems running smoothly

  • Updating and maintaining clinical records
  • Coding clinical information and preparing patient summaries
  • Scanning and filing documents using DOCMAN
  • Managing new patient registrations, changes and removals

Helping patients and supporting the front desk

  • Handling phone calls and patient queries in a professional, friendly manner
  • Offering occasional reception cover and supporting colleagues when needed

Maintaining high standards

  • Ensuring all patient information is handled confidentially and securely
  • Following health & safety, infection control and data protection procedures
  • Contributing to a positive, supportive team culture and continuous improvement

This role will suit someone who is:

  • Organised, with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident using IT systems (clinical system experience is helpful but training is provided)
  • Calm under pressure and able to manage a busy workload
  • Friendly and professional, with strong communication and teamwork skills
