Overview

To greet and assist patients in accessing the appropriate service or relevant healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

To provide general administrative assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

To play a key role in the continued development of NRMC , working closely with the practice team in implementing systems aligned to the practice’s values and purpose.

Duties

  • Manage all incoming AccuRx queries, calls, emails, and inquiries with enthusiasm, directing patients to the appropriate services or team members
  • Schedule appointments efficiently, balancing patient needs with clinic availability while maintaining accurate records
  • Coordinate referrals, test results, and follow-up appointments to ensure seamless

Skills

  • Proven experience in an office or administrative setting, preferably within a healthcare environment/GP referral secretary
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting
  • Excellent communication skills—clear, positive, and empathetic when interacting with patients and team members
  • Proficiency in office software such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and practice management systems (we use SystmOne and AccuRx for Triage.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in scheduling, record keeping, and data entry
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while managing multiple priorities efficiently
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine desire to support patient care and improve clinic operations
