Full job description

PACKAGING TECHNOLOGIST
Cheshire | £35,000 – £45,000 DOE | Permanent
Must have Food / FMCG Experience

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about packaging and want to see your ideas make a real impact on the factory floor?

We’re looking for a Packaging Technologist to join a fast-paced Food Manufacturing environment where you’ll have genuine ownership across packaging development, trials, optimisation and innovation.

This is a role for somebody who likes being close to the product and the factory — working with suppliers, solving production challenges and helping take packaging ideas from concept through to successful implementation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead packaging development activity across new and existing products.
  • Take packaging projects from initial brief through trial, validation and launch.
  • Plan and support factory and supplier trials.
  • Work closely with NPD, Technical, Operations, Procurement and suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain packaging specifications.
  • Troubleshoot packaging issues and find practical solutions.
  • Explore new materials, formats and packaging technologies.
  • Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support sustainability and packaging improvement initiatives.
  • Make sure solutions work technically, commercially and operationally.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll ideally have experience within Food Manufacturing, FMCG or another fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a good understanding of packaging materials and how they perform in production.

You’ll be practical, commercially aware and confident working with both suppliers and factory teams.

Most importantly, you’ll enjoy getting involved, solving problems and seeing your work become reality on the production line.

Why This Role?

This isn’t a packaging role where you’ll spend all day behind a desk.

You’ll have visibility across the business, influence packaging decisions and work on projects that directly impact quality, efficiency, sustainability and cost.
