Full job description

Medical Receptionist/Secretary – Wigan – Temp (part-time for 8-10 weeks) – £13-13.50p/h DOE

We're currently recruiting for an experienced Medical Receptionist / Secretary to join a busy and friendly healthcare setting in Wigan on a temporary basis for approximately 8–10 weeks.

Working Hours

  • Wednesday: 7:45am – 1:00pm
  • Thursday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
  • Friday: 8:45am – 1:00pm

Duties will include:

  • Meeting and greeting patients in a professional and friendly manner
  • Answering a busy telephone system and dealing with patient enquiries
  • Booking and managing appointments
  • Updating and maintaining patient records
  • General administrative and secretarial duties
  • Liaising with GPs, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals
  • Processing referrals, correspondence, and medical documentation
  • Ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Secretary is essential
  • Confident using GP clinical systems (EMIS experience desirable)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Able to work efficiently in a busy environment
  • Professional, reliable, and patient-focused
