Background
The Department of Mathematics conducts internationally excellent research across Representation Theory, Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. Applications are invited for a one-year, full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Theoretical Physics group and work with Dr Andrea Guerrieri on the Royal Society-funded project S-matrix Bootstrap: a theoretical collider for particle physics . The postholder will benefit from the group’s broader research environment and collaborations across mathematical and theoretical physics.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will conduct original research in scattering amplitudes and related areas of theoretical and mathematical physics, developing innovative directions connected with the Royal Society-funded S-matrix Bootstrap project. They will contribute to the research activities of the Theoretical Physics group, support seminar and conference organisation, assist with research student supervision where appropriate, publish and present high-quality research, build external collaborations, and contribute positively to the Department’s collegial and interdisciplinary research culture.
Person Specification
Applicants should have a PhD awarded, or a PhD thesis submitted, in Theoretical Physics, Mathematics or a closely related discipline. They should demonstrate a strong research record and expertise in one or more relevant areas, including scattering amplitudes, S-matrix bootstrap, string theory, holography, integrability, gravitational physics, conformal field theory or related mathematical physics. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and collaboratively, communicate research effectively, and contribute positively to an inclusive research environment.
