Full job description
We are advertising for a 12 month fixed term Band 8A Senior Clinical Scientist post in Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation safety, to cover maternity leave. We are looking for self-motivated and enthusiastic physicist with a few years of experience and a good background in Quality Assurance, optimisation and radiation protection/safety, to work within the Radiological Sciences Unit at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
The successful candidate will join a friendly and dynamic team delivering scientific and technical support and radiation safety services to ICHNT and a small number of external organisations.
The post holder is expected to be a registered HCPC clinical scientist who will play a key role in procurement, acceptance, commissioning, optimisation and routine quality assurance of x-ray diagnostic equipment. They will provide MPE support in Diagnostic Radiology and contribute to the development and optimisation of examination protocols, providing compliance with IRMER legislation. Teaching experience is desirable, as the role includes supporting the Scientist Training Programme and may involve MSc-level lecturing.
Candidates with less experience who are working towards gaining Medical Physics Expert (MPE) status in Diagnostic Radiology or are currently finishing their training in the Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Protection specialism are strongly encouraged to apply (subject to an amended job description and salary band), as training and support is available.
To act as the Senior Radiological Physicist for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and other trusts covered by Service Level Agreements .
To be responsible for the development and provision of highly complex and specialised radiological physics support and scientific and technical expertise to the trust and SLA customers.
To act as the Medical Physics Expert for specified areas of work for the Trust and the Service Level Agreement customers.
To plan, organise and implement integrated computer information systems for handling, analysing and interpreting Quality Assurance data and provide specialist expertise in the analysis of such data.
To teach and train members of staff and update local policies to ensure the safety of patients and staff regarding the use of x-rays.
