Job Title: Occupational Health Nurse

Hours: 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 per annum

Location: Nottingham (NG7)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Health Nurse, based at the University of Nottingham (NG7).

What you’ll be doing

This is a comprehensive role covering primarily vaccinations and immunisation, as well as occasional health surveillance, management referral and pre-placement screening.

You will be responsible for the safe and effective administration of vaccinations at a university client site for staff and students, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of vaccinations and immunisation provided, and ensuring documentation to a high standard and in compliance with data protection and confidentiality requirements.

You will promote patient safety and offer advice on the benefits of vaccinations adhering to best practices. On occasion there may be a need to provide health surveillance, and health surveillance advice, to on-site occupational health technicians. Another element of the role is to screen pre-placement health questionnaires and be capable of providing occasional management referrals.

You will be responsible for monitoring fridge temperature, vaccine expiry dates, delivering all vaccinations appropriate to HEOPS guidance for each profession including Mantoux and BCG. You will be responsible for phlebotomy and sending specimens to the lab for immunisation status and ensuring that all documentation is appropriately completed and follow up requested if needed.

Key Responsibilities

· Ensure that vaccination practices meeting regulatory standards, including the Health and Safety Executive guidelines and comply with national immunisation schedules.

· Ensure that we maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all vaccinations administered in accordance with regulatory and organisational guidelines.

· Ensure all vaccinations are carried out in accordance with best practices, infection control standards, and green book regulations.

· Carry out pre-employment/placement health screening to ensure fitness, adhering to best practice standards, policies and protocols.

· Ensure Health Surveillance tasks are carried out in accordance with best practices and infection control standards.

· Meet relevant customer and internal service level agreements/KPI’s.

· Adhere to Occupational Health policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines to ensure effective service delivery and practice.

· Maintain practice standards aligned with NMC regulations (or equivalent), legislation, and best practices to uphold professionalism.

· Ensure clinical compliance with relevant standards, certifications and accreditations held by the organisation, including but not limited to SEQOHS, ISO 27001 and 9001.

· Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice relating to all occupational health issues.

· Complete all management information requirements on the current operating system.

· Participate in upskilling and learning and development programs/sessions.

· Participate in the development and delivery of workplace health promotion initiatives.

· Engage in quality assurance procedures and regular clinical supervision.

Essential Criteria

· Registered Nurse (NMC).

· OH qualification or relevant OH experience.

· Experience in vaccinations and health surveillance.

· Phlebotomy competency.

· BLS and anaphylaxis management training.

· Strong report writing and communication skills.

· Proficiency in medical and occupational health electronic systems and general IT tools such as outlook and excel and word.

· Desirable (but not essential as training can be given) TB and Mantoux vaccination

· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
