Job Summary

Medical Secretary – Maternity Cover

Fixed-term contract: October 2026 – September 2027

Cape Hill Medical Centre is a special place to work, and we are looking for a caring, efficient and compassionate Medical Secretary to join our friendly clinical administration team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract from October 2026 to September 2027.

As a Medical Secretary, you will play an important role in supporting our clinicians and ensuring our patients receive a professional, caring and responsive service.

We are looking for someone who is well organised, approachable and empathetic, with excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to help others. You will be confident using word processing and audio/digital dictation, have experience working with clinical databases, and have a good understanding of medical terminology.

Cape Hill Medical Centre uses EMIS Web as its clinical IT system, so previous experience using EMIS Web would be highly desirable. You should also have good general IT skills and be confident in learning and using clinical systems accurately and efficiently.

You will work closely with our clinical and administrative teams, helping to provide a smooth and efficient service. The role will involve communicating with patients, their families and healthcare professionals, arranging admissions, outpatient appointments and visits, and ensuring information is handled accurately and sensitively.

As one of the first points of contact for many of our patients, you will have an important role in making people feel welcomed, listened to and reassured. A warm manner, patience and the ability to respond sensitively to people who may be worried or vulnerable are therefore essential.

At Cape Hill Medical Centre, caring is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud of our supportive team environment and the difference we make to our patients and our local community.

If you are self-motivated, compassionate and organised, and would enjoy working as part of a team where colleagues support one another and take pride in providing excellent patient care, we would love to hear from you.

Come and join our team and help us make a positive difference to our patients every day.

Pay: £25,420.00-£29,330.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Free parking
  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
