Exciting Opportunity to Join a State of the Art Dental Practice in Telford

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Head Dental Receptionist to join a modern, state-of-the-art dental centre in the Telford area. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive and patient-focused team, playing a key role in delivering an exceptional patient experience while leading the day-to-day reception function.

As the first point of contact for every patient, creating a warm, professional, and memorable first impression is key. You will oversee all aspects of the reception department, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the front desk while supporting patients throughout their treatment journey. From managing appointments and patient enquiries to discussing treatment options and organising payment plans, you will help deliver an exceptional standard of customer service in a modern clinical environment.

We are looking for an experienced Dental Receptionist who is confident, organised, proactive, and passionate about providing outstanding patient care. This role would suit someone who thrives in a busy environment and has a passion for patient care.

Please note: Applicants must have a minimum of two years' experience working as a Dental Receptionist within a UK dental practice. Unfortunately, applications without the required UK dental experience cannot be considered.

Position Details

Position: Head Dental Receptionist
Location: Telford
Salary: From £30,000 per annum (dependant on experience)
Days: Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients with a friendly, professional, and approachable manner, ensuring an outstanding first impression.
  • Manage the reception area and oversee the smooth daily operation of the front-of-house function.
  • Book, amend, and coordinate appointments efficiently using the Dentally Software
  • Handle telephone calls, emails, and patient enquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Explain treatment plans and associated costs with confidence and clarity.
  • Organise payment plans and assist patients with available finance options where applicable.
  • Process payments, issue invoices and receipts, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Maintain patient records in accordance with GDPR and practice confidentiality policies.
  • Coordinate closely with dentists, hygienists, nurses, and the wider team to ensure efficient clinical schedules.
  • Support patients throughout their journey, delivering exceptional customer service at every stage.
  • Help maintain efficient reception systems, workflows, and administrative procedures.
  • Ensure the reception area remains clean, organised, welcoming, and reflective of the practice's high standards.
  • Assist with recalls, follow-up appointments, and patient communications to encourage excellent patient retention.
  • Contribute to the continued success of the practice by promoting a positive patient experience and supporting treatment acceptance.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum two years' experience as a Dental Receptionist within a UK dental practice.
  • Previous experience working in a busy dental environment.
  • Experience using Dentally is a bonus, but not essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Confidence discussing treatment plans, fees, and payment options.
  • Professional, friendly, and patient-focused approach.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills with excellent attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Dental Nursing experience or qualification.
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring reception staff.
  • Sales or customer service experience.
  • Experience supporting patient engagement and practice development.
