Medical Receptionist / Care Navigator (EMIS Web)

Vacancy Overview

  • Location: Preston, Lancashire (GP Practice)
  • Salary: National Minimum Wage and/or dependent on experience
  • Hours: 27.5 hours per week

Role Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and friendly Medical Receptionist / Care Navigator to join our small GP practice team in Preston. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our front-of-house services and delivering excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

· Clinical System (EMIS Web): Efficiently managing the clinical appointment system, booking/cancelling appointments, and processing patient tasks.

· Patient Liaison: Greeting patients face-to-face at the front desk and managing a high volume of incoming telephone enquiries with a professional and empathetic manner.

· Care Navigation: Confidently directing patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional/ service using practice signposting protocols.

· Administration: Accurately processing repeat prescription requests via EMIS, registering new patients, and handling clinical scanning/coding duties.

What We Are Looking For

· EMIS Experience: Previous experience using EMIS Web is highly desirable. Candidates with transferable skills from other NHS clinical systems will be fully considered.

· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle difficult or sensitive conversations calmly and professionally.

· Resilience: Proven ability to remain calm under pressure in a GP environment.

· Confidentiality: A strict understanding of GDPR, Information Governance, and medical patient confidentiality.

· Flexible: As we are a small team, you will be required to cover holidays/sickness as and when required.
