Full job description

We are currently looking for a Part-Time Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be the welcoming face of our practice, ensuring smooth and efficient patient interactions.

About the Role

  • Hours: 20 hours per week, shift would be on rota basis
  • 5 hours per day, on a rota basis
  • Location: You will work across both our Shepway and Grove Green branches

Shifts will be a mix of mornings and afternoons which varies and will be on rota basis with any of the following shift

Morning shifts

  • 7:45am – 1:15pm
  • 8:00am – 1:30pm
  • 8:00am – 1:00pm

Afternoon shifts

  • 1:00pm – 6:00pm
  • 1:15pm – 6:00pm
  • 1:30pm – 6:30pm

Enhanced Hours

  • Once in every 7 weeks, you will be required to work enhanced hours (paid at an enhanced rate):
  • Monday: 6:30pm – 8:00pm
  • Saturday: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Our Surgery is open Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 6:30pm and occasional saturdays

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide a welcoming and efficient first point of contact for patients.
  • Answer queries by phone and face-to-face, triaging and signposting patients to the right service.
  • Manage appointments, bookings, and recalls (e.g. annual health checks, vaccinations).
  • Handle administrative tasks such as repeat prescriptions, emails, post, and record keeping.
  • Support with practice operations such as opening/locking the building securely.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow practice systems and protocols at all times.

Requirements

  • Previous Medical Receptionist at least 1 year is highly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and care

Pay: From £12.75 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 per week

Experience:

  • GP receptionist: 1 year (required)

Work Location: In person
