Job Summary

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and organised Dispensary Receptionist to join our team at our rural dispensing doctors’ practice.

This is a varied, patient-facing role, ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and is able to work accurately and calmly in a busy practice environment.

Hours of Work

The regular hours are:

  • Monday: 7.30am – 11.30am
  • Wednesday: 7.30am – 11.30am
  • Thursday: 7.30am – 11.30am
  • Friday: 7.30am – 11.30am
  • Saturdays: As required
  • Additional hours: To cover staff sickness and annual leave when needed

Total Hours 16

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

  • Providing a friendly and professional service to patients
  • Receiving and assisting patients at the dispensary
  • Handing out patients’ medication in accordance with practice procedures
  • Ordering and receiving medication requests
  • Filing and maintaining accurate records
  • Handling cash and card payments
  • Answering queries and providing general assistance to patients
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and organised dispensary
  • Working as part of the wider practice team to ensure patients receive an efficient and welcoming service

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, approachable and professional
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Organised and able to work accurately
  • Comfortable handling cash and card payments
  • Confident dealing with members of the public
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a small team
  • Flexible and willing to provide additional cover when required
  • Respectful of patient confidentiality and sensitive information

Previous experience in a GP practice, pharmacy or dispensary would be advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
