Job Overview:

Clayton Brook Surgery are excited to recruit 2 Receptionist / Administrators to join our expanding team. We would ideally like candidates with experience in working in a GP practice and have a knowledge of our GP Clinical System EMIS Web. You must have excellent customer service skills. The contracted hours will be 30 hours. You must be able to work under pressure and be flexible with working hours, as you may be asked to work overtime or vary the hours worked depending on circumstances as they arrive. The successful candidates will be expected to also work at Moss Side Medical Centre in Leyland, therefore candidate mobility is expected.

The role is to offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way

Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.

Clayton Brook Surgery and Moss Side Medical Centre have a great cohesive team ethic and working environments. We have GP Partners, Salaried GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse, Nurse Associate, HCAs, Medicines Co-ordinator, a Business Manager, Practice Manager and an Operations Manager and a team of Receptionist / Administrators. We are also Training Practices with our Partners being GP Trainers / Educators.

The role of Reception / Administrator is a key role within our practice and we are looking forward to welcoming 2 new members to the team in what is an exciting time in General Practice.

Duties include

  • Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
  • Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
  • Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
  • Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information and changes in accordance with practice procedures and adding new patients as required
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers always checking telephone numbers and addresses at each contact
  • Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying
  • To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
  • Scan letters to patient notes as appropriate
  • Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
  • Be able to cover all reception duties as necessary and covering staff leave
  • Any other tasks allocated by managers
  • Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records
