GP Receptionist / Patient Care Coordinator (Part-Time – 18 Hours per Week)
Working Hours
- Monday: 12.00pm – 5.00pm (5 hours)
- Thursday: 8.00am – 1.00pm (5 hours)
- Friday: 8.00am – 5.00pm (8 hours, including a 1-hour lunch break)
Permanent Position
Please note: Although this role is contracted for 18 hours per week, flexibility is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to provide additional paid cover for colleagues' annual leave and sickness, sometimes at short notice. As we are a small team, this is an important part of the role and applicants should be able to commit to providing extra cover when needed. Are you someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, thrives in a busy environment and wants to be part of a friendly, supportive team?
If so, we'd love to hear from you.
Due to our growing patient list, we are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and caring GP Receptionist / Patient Care Coordinator to join our CQC Outstanding GP practice.
We are a busy four-partner practice caring for over 8,850 patients, with a dedicated team committed to delivering outstanding patient care and excellent customer service.
We're proud of our friendly, supportive team where everyone helps each other and new staff are fully supported while they learn. We know that general practice can be busy and demanding at times, but we work together, support one another and celebrate each other's successes.
What you'll be doing
As the first point of contact for our patients, you'll play an important role in creating a positive experience for everyone who contacts the practice. Every day is different and your duties will include:
- Welcoming patients and visitors with a friendly, professional manner.
- Answering telephone calls and helping patients with a wide range of enquiries.
- Booking and managing appointments.
- Processing patient information accurately and maintaining confidentiality.
- Using SystemOne and Ardens to manage patient records and appointments (full training will be provided if you have not used these systems before).
- Working closely with GPs, nurses and the wider practice team to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
- Providing excellent customer service, even during our busiest periods.
We're looking for someone who:
- Genuinely enjoys helping people and providing excellent customer service.
- Is friendly, professional and approachable.
- Enjoys working as part of a supportive team.
- Is reliable, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Is confident using computers and keen to learn new systems.
- Has a positive, proactive attitude and is willing to go the extra mile for patients and colleagues.
- Is flexible and able to provide additional hours at short notice to help cover colleagues' annual leave and sickness. As we are a small team, this is an important part of the role, and applicants should be able to commit to providing extra cover when needed.
Previous experience in a GP practice or healthcare setting would be an advantage, particularly if you have experience using SystemOne and Ardens. However, this is not essential. We are equally interested in candidates with excellent customer service skills and the right attitude, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.
What we offer
- A friendly, experienced and supportive team where your contribution is genuinely valued.
- Full training and ongoing support.
- A varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.
- Opportunities to work additional paid hours covering annual leave and sickness, allowing you to increase your earnings when extra shifts are available.
- The chance to make a real difference to the lives of our patients every day.
The Practice is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
