This is primarily a front-of-house reception role, but we would particularly welcome applicants who have previous experience as a Dental Nurse or have worked in both nursing and reception.

A dental nursing background is desirable but not essential. What matters most is that you have previous dental reception experience, understand how a busy dental practice operates and are confident providing an excellent patient experience.

  • 2 Saturdays per month

Pay: £15.00 per hour

Your role

You will play an important part in the day-to-day running of the practice and the overall patient journey.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Welcoming patients and creating a warm, professional first impression
  • Managing the reception desk and patient journey
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries
  • Booking, changing and confirming appointments
  • Managing clinician diaries effectively
  • Taking payments and providing receipts
  • Communicating with patients by telephone, email and other communication channels
  • Following up patients where required
  • Supporting recalls and appointment scheduling
  • Liaising closely with dentists, nurses, hygienists and the wider team
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and administration
  • Helping resolve patient queries professionally and efficiently
  • Supporting the smooth running of busy clinics
  • Assisting the wider team with general administrative and operational duties

Applicants with a dental nursing background may also be able to provide additional clinical support where appropriate, although regular nursing is not a requirement of the position.

Who we're looking for

Previous dental reception experience is essential.

We would ideally like someone who has worked within dentistry for some time and understands both the patient-facing and clinical sides of a dental practice.

Previous experience as a Dental Nurse or GDC registration would be a strong advantage, but is not essential.

You should be:

  • Warm, friendly and confident with patients
  • Professional and well presented
  • An excellent communicator
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a busy dental environment
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Proactive and willing to use your initiative
  • Calm under pressure
  • Comfortable discussing appointments, fees and treatments with patients
  • Commercially aware while remaining patient focused
  • A genuine team player who is happy to support colleagues when needed

Experience using Dentally would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
