Full job description

Job Purpose:

To ensure accurate and timely coding of clinical information into patient records using EMIS Web and supporting effective patient care, data quality, and compliance with NHS standards.

Key Responsibilities:

· Review and code incoming clinical correspondence (e.g., hospital letters, discharge summaries) using appropriate coding systems (e.g., Read Codes, SNOMED CT).

· Organise and maintain patient records, linking problem titles and ensuring consistency.

· Workflow management: Direct clinical actions to appropriate team members based on correspondence content.

Skills & Qualifications:

Essential:

· Experience in clinical coding within a healthcare setting or currently working in a clinical environment.

· Strong IT skills, including use of EMIS Web.

· Understanding of medical terminology and primary care processes.

· High attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Desirable:

· Knowledge of QOF and NHS coding standards.

· Previous experience in a GP practice or similar healthcare environment.
