Full job description

Senior Recruitment Consultant — Construction (Contract Trades & Labour)
Edinburgh & Glasgow based | Scotland / UK Wide supply
£45,000 – £60,000 DOE + Uncapped Commission

CNX Recruitment is looking for an experienced Senior Consultant to join our construction recruitment team, working across contract trades and labour supply. You'll have the choice of working from either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office, with no set boundaries on the clients or areas you cover - if you can build it, you can work it, anywhere in Scotland or further afield across the UK.

This is a warm desk role - you'll be handed live clients and active business to work from day one, with no threshold to hit for your first six months while you settle in and build your pipeline.

What You'll Be Doing

Managing and growing a portfolio of construction clients, supplying temporary and contract trades and labour across sites throughout Scotland and the wider UK. Building genuine, long-term relationships with clients and candidates rather than one-off placements, developing new business alongside managing existing accounts, and working closely with site teams, project managers and contractors to understand their workforce needs as they come up.

What We're Looking For

A typical successful candidate in this market will have a minimum of 2 years' experience recruiting within the construction sector, specifically in contract trades and labour supply, and will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment. Beyond the basics, we'd expect to see:

  • Strong relationship-building skills with both clients and candidates, and the ability to turn a single placement into a long-term account
  • Proven account management experience — retaining and growing existing business, not just chasing new leads
  • A solid understanding of the construction recruitment market, including trade rates, CSCS requirements, umbrella/PAYE structures and the general rhythm of site-based work
  • Confidence in business development and cold outreach, comfortable picking up the phone and getting out to sites to build a presence
  • The ability to manage a high-volume, fast-turnaround desk — construction labour supply moves quickly and candidates need to be sourced and placed at pace
  • Resilience and tenacity, with the drive to work towards uncapped earning potential rather than a capped, salary-only role
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple live roles, clients and candidates simultaneously without things slipping

What's On Offer

£45,000–£60,000 basic salary DOE, depending on experience, with an uncapped commission structure on top. A warm desk with live clients and active business from day one. No threshold to hit for your first six months.

Company pension scheme. Private healthcare. Gym membership in your local area. 28 days annual leave. The flexibility to work from either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office, with no restrictions on the geographical area you can cover.

If you're an experienced construction recruiter looking for a genuinely open desk, a strong package and the room to build without limits, we'd like to hear from you.

Pay: £45,000.00-£60,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Additional leave
  • Company events
  • Company pension
  • Free parking
  • Gym membership
  • On-site parking
  • Private medical insurance
  • Sick pay
  • Work from home

Work Location: In person
