Shop Manager Job Description

Cotham Hill Branch

Salary: £14.5/£15 ph

40 hours per week, working 5 out of 7 days. You will also be able to work extended hours and weekends when required.

Permanent position after 6 months’ probation period.

What’s the Role?

Lead and manage the entire Retail Site and team for Pullin’s Bakery with a focus on delivering exceptional customer experience.

What will I have to do?

· Deliver consistent levels of food preparation, cooking and service in a fast-paced environment.

· Manage food safety systems to adhere to legislation. Ensure that required procedures, training, and monitoring documentation are completed within timescale and issues addressed as appropriate.

· Greet and serve customers. Advise customers and answer any queries they have from stock availability and details of special offers or promotions.

· Be the first point of contact to resolve customer complaints. Use the customer feedback received and take appropriate action to improve quality of service and customer experience.

· Bring new, innovative, fresh ideas to the shop in line with current trends and/or customer feedback.

· Train and manage shop assistants to deliver a consistent and timely food operation to meet the needs and expectations of the customer, ensuring that all food safety practices are followed.

· Deal with staffing issues such as sickness, holiday requests, interviewing potential staff, conducting appraisals and performance reviews with the support of the Retail Manager.

· Deliver timely Rota management.

· Carry out disciplinary procedures where required with the support of the Retail Manager.

· Inspire team members to demonstrate personal drive to achieve great customer service, efficiency and high sales.

· Maximize profitability and set/meet sales targets including motivating staff to do so.

· Openly share information with all colleagues in a timely way in order to harmoniously work towards achieving shop goals.

· Places orders for products, monitor and manage ordering amounts visibly discouraging waste and acting credibly on matters that affect the business finances.

· Manage stock levels by ordering, maintaining stock, rotating and checking expiration dates arranging their use accordingly.

· Actively improve the commercial presentation of the shop to enhance and maximise sales including maintaining the brand standards and regularly updating the window display.

· Manage relationships with a variety of businesses such as local shop owners and suppliers.

· Manage shop promotional calendar.

· Responsible for counting the contents of cash register drawer at the end of each shift, maintaining receipts, and records.

· Responsible for opening and closing the store correctly and keeping the shop key safe.

· Confidently use IT systems including the retail management system used named EPOS.

· Ensure standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met.

· Maintain a clean, tidy and organised shop throughout the day, and after business hours help clean and prepare the shop for the next day.

· Ensure hygiene standards are maintained for both the building and staff liaising with the Retail Manger/ Office/Maintenance/ Technical/HR/H&S to do so.

What do I need to do to be successful?

· Demonstrate managing a successful food safe, fast-paced busy service experience.

· Deliver exceptional customer service.

· Demonstrate strong leadership skills by managing a team that has a positive team culture.

· Show highly effective organisational and administration skills and the ability to work under pressure.

· Demonstrate commercial awareness by making sound decisions based on analysis, judgement and making accurate forecasts based on current trends, sales and waste data.

· Be a quality drinks champion confident all hot drinks served are of the highest quality.

· Be confident with using IT and the retail management system.
