We are looking for a bright, technically-minded person to join our small team and take an important role across both experiment scripting and analysis.

You will help turn research ideas into reliable online experiments, making sure the logic, randomisation, balancing and data capture work as intended. Once the data is collected, you will also help prepare, analyse and interpret it, working closely with our client-facing research managers.

We use AI tools extensively across the business and we want this role to do the same. We are not looking for someone who avoids AI, but for someone who knows how to use it well: speeding up coding and analysis while still understanding the underlying logic, checking the output and spotting when something is wrong.

Our tools and approaches are always being improved and iterated on. We are looking for someone who can not only execute projects but also improve how we script, test, analyse and automate our work.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Turning research flows and project requirements into working online experiments using our bespoke platform
• Implementing and checking randomisation, balancing, branching, loops, quotas and data capture
• Testing experiments thoroughly before launch, including edge cases and data outputs
• Monitoring and troubleshooting live experiments where required
• Preparing, cleaning, reshaping and validating experiment data
• Analysing experiment data using R, Python or similar tools
• Selecting appropriate statistical approaches and helping research managers interpret findings robustly
• Producing clear tables, graphics and analysis outputs that can be used in client work
• Using AI tools to accelerate scripting, coding, QA and analysis while independently checking and understanding the work produced
• Improving reusable scripts, components, checks and automation so that our processes become faster and more reliable over time
• Documenting work clearly enough that somebody else can understand, reproduce and pick it up

Skills Required

We expect the chosen candidate to have:

• A logical, structured approach to solving problems and debugging
• Strong attention to detail and a natural instinct to check whether something actually works
• Experience writing and understanding code, ideally in Python, R and/or JavaScript
• Confidence working with data and manipulating datasets programmatically
• A good grounding in statistics and quantitative analysis
• The ability to understand a research question and translate it into technical implementation and analysis
• The confidence to question an approach or result when it does not make sense
• Comfort using AI coding and analysis tools, combined with the ability to validate what they produce
• The ability to learn new tools quickly and seek solutions independently
• Confidence communicating technical or statistical ideas to non-technical colleagues
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work accurately against tight deadlines

Desirable (some or all of these):

• Experience scripting surveys, experiments or other interactive research tools
• Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Experience with experimental design, A/B testing, behavioural science or quantitative market research
• Experience with SQL, databases, APIs or automated data pipelines
• Experience with version control such as Git
• Experience creating data visualisations or automated reporting outputs

Person Specification

You will be curious, practical and comfortable working in a small team where projects can move quickly. You should enjoy getting to the bottom of how something works, be happy to take responsibility for quality, and be able to distinguish between getting an answer quickly and knowing that the answer is right.

We care more about strong reasoning, technical foundations and the ability to learn than whether you have already used our exact tools. We are open to candidates from a range of backgrounds including data analysis, research, behavioural science, experimentation, software or research engineering.

This is a home-based position, but you will need to live within easy reach of Brighton for occasional face-to-face meetings.

The job is 37.5 hours per week Mon–Fri with flexible working hours. We provide at least 31 days holiday per year and private healthcare with Vitality after 6 months.
