Job Summary

This is a fixed term contract role with a contract end date of 31 March 2027

The NIHR has been growing its inclusion work over the last 3 years. We have an ambitious, far reaching Research Inclusion strategy and action plan, as well as a dedicated team and function. We have Research Inclusion colleagues both centrally (who provide a corporate strategic function) and locally (in the different business areas of NIHR) to ensure inclusion is embedded, cohesively across everything we do.

This role will join our corporate Research Inclusion function. The role will have day to day responsibility for developing, planning, managing and evaluating schemes, workstreams and programmes that form part of the NIHR Research Inclusion portfolio. The postholder will have the opportunity to help NIHR on its journey to reduce health inequalities and improve the health of the nation.

The NIHR Academy Executive (where this role sits) have adopted a hybrid working model whereby staff are able to split their working time between working in the office and at home. The Research Inclusion Team currently has one scheduled office day per week; this is in our central Leeds Office.

Why you should join our Team

The NIHR enables and delivers world-leading health and social care research that improves people's health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth.

What you will bring to the role

The post holder will provide equality and inclusion expertise across all of NIHR’s activities. They will be the “head, heart, and hands” of the NIHR’s Research Inclusion programme - liaising daily with a variety of stakeholders to bring about change and enhance NIHR’s culture and performance as an inclusive funder of research.

The role will work alongside the other NIHR Research Inclusion Managers to ensure implementation and oversight of the various projects and programmes that form part of our strategic business plan. You will identify opportunities to embed inclusion across everything we do at NIHR. You will set and monitor performance metrics, to ensure our work is having a positive impact.

The role requires significant previous experience of successfully managing and delivering equality, diversity and inclusion projects, including the handling of complex diversity data.
