We are seeking an experienced Specialty Doctor (Resident Medical Officer) to join our medical team from mid-June 2026. The post holder plays a key role in delivering high‑quality medical care to inpatients, supporting detoxification programmes, and providing medical leadership and guidance to nursing staff.

You will work closely with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe, effective management of patients with substance misuse and co‑existing mental health and physical health needs.

  • Contribute to discharge planning, prescriptions and follow‑up arrangements
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation

Communication

  • Participate in daily ward rounds and effective handover
  • Prepare clear discharge summaries and communicate appropriately with GPs and referrers
  • Escalate concerns promptly to the Consultant, Medical Director, or senior colleagues

  • Maintain CPD, appraisal, revalidation, and medical indemnity
  • Participate in audit, clinical governance, and service development activities

  • GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Experience working as a Specialty Doctor, RMO, or in a similar role
  • Competence in managing routine detoxification and acute medical issues
  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
  • Strong communication skills and a patient‑centred approach

Desirable

  • Experience in addiction psychiatry, substance misuse, or mental health
  • Experience working in inpatient or residential care settings

What we offer

  • CPD support for permanent staff (including online learning resources)
  • Company pension contribution
  • Free lunch and refreshments
  • On‑site gym, free parking, sick pay, and staff discounts
