Full job description

An opportunity is available for an approachable and sales focused Optical Assistant to join our friendly team. The main focus of the Optical Assistant will be on delivering outstanding customer service and driving sales by giving top priority to providing a high level of customer care to our clientele. This role will require a combination of technical responsibilities and direct customer interaction to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the store.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Interaction:

- Greet and assist customers upon arrival.

- Take measurements and support customers with products, ensuring that the fit, comfort and accuracy of frames are checked thoroughly.

- Assist customers in selecting the perfect eye-wear, including frames and lenses, based on their prescriptions, lifestyle, and preferences.

- Educate customers on the proper care of their eye-wear

Administrative Duties:

- Maintain customer records, orders and transactions, ensuring accuracy andn confidentiality.

- Process payments.

- Order and manage inventory of optical supplies, frames, and lenses.

- Perform general office duties, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and maintaining a clean and organised workspace.

Technical Support:

- Calibrate and maintain optical equipment and instruments.

- Repair and adjust glasses as needed.

- Conduct lens edging and glazing, and fitting when necessary.

Customer Service:

- Provide excellent customer service at all times by understanding customer needs, and addressing customer inquiries and concerns.

- Offer product recommendations, explaining different lens and frame options to customers.

- Handle returns, exchanges, and adjustments of eyewear.

- Making customers feel welcome and valued to encourage customer loyalty.

Experience:

- Previous experience in a customer-facing environment is preferred.

- Prior experience in optics is preferred, however we will provide training and will continue to help develop and expand your knowledge.

- Experience with optical equipment and software systems is beneficial.

Skills:

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), with a customer centric approach.

- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to operate both in a team and individually to achieve sales targets and contribute to a positive and welcoming store environment.
