Assistant Headteacher

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Headteacher to help drive our mission of Turning Children’s Lives Around. This is an exciting opportunity to support the Headteacher in leading a nurturing, trauma‑informed specialist school based in Bristol.

About Sky Vale School

Sky Vale School is a specialist setting for children and young people aged 6–18, many of whom have experienced trauma and benefit from a relational, therapeutic approach to education.

As a small school, we pride ourselves on creating an environment that promotes stability, belonging, and high-quality learning, enabling every child to reach their full potential.

About the Role

As Assistant Headteacher, you will play a key role in both the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Headteacher in leading the school and driving improvement
  • Championing and embedding the school’s vision, values, and trauma-informed approach
  • Leading key whole-school areas of responsibility, in line with your expertise
  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding outcomes for young people
  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, learning, and staff performance

You will also be part of a wider network of Senior Leaders across Five Rivers’ Ofsted-registered schools, offering collaboration, support, and shared best practice.

Who We’re Looking For

This is full time role covering 37.5 hours per week, term time inline with the local authority
