Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our team at an innovative educational institution committed to empowering young people and their families. In this vital role, you will provide tailored support to students and their families, fostering a positive environment that promotes well-being, resilience, and academic success. Your proactive approach will help address challenges faced by families, ensuring they have access to the resources and guidance needed to thrive. Responsibilities
- Build trusting relationships with students and their families to understand their unique needs and circumstances.
- Offer practical advice, emotional support, and guidance to help families navigate challenges related to education, mental health, and social issues.
- Collaborate with school staff, external agencies, and community organizations to coordinate support services for families.
- Conduct home visits when necessary to assess family situations and provide targeted assistance.
- Organize workshops, information sessions, and activities aimed at strengthening family engagement and resilience.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions, interventions, and progress in accordance with confidentiality policies.
- Advocate on behalf of families to ensure they receive appropriate resources, including mental health services, social care support, or educational accommodations.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or in a family support capacity is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to listen empathetically and convey information clearly.
- Ability to build rapport quickly with diverse families and community members.
- Knowledge of local social services, mental health resources, and educational support systems is advantageous.
- Organized with excellent record-keeping skills to track case progress effectively.
- A proactive attitude with the motivation to empower families and promote positive change.
