THE KEY DETAILS

  • Pay: £14 per hour
  • Hours per week: 24-40 hours a week, all year round
  • Hours of work: shifts between 7:15am-6.15pm
  • Reports to: Senior Nursery Practitioner
  • Our Locations: Borrowash, Hilton, Oakwood, Shirland and Alfreton
  • Requirements: Level 3 Qualification in childcare and education (or equivalent). Would also consider an experienced Level 2 Qualified applicant. You must have at least 2 years qualified childcare experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating a Caring Environment: Support the growth and development of every child in our care, ensuring their safety, happiness, and individual needs are always prioritised.
  • Championing Cleanliness: Maintain high hygiene standards through daily cleaning routines, nappy changes, and other housekeeping tasks, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Promoting Health & Safety: Follow all health and safety policies and procedures to create a secure environment for children, families, and staff.
  • Understanding Policies: Familiarise yourself with the company’s operational policies, procedures, and employee handbook, and ensure they are consistently followed.
  • Mastering the EYFS Framework: Stay up to date with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements, ensuring your practices meet—and exceed—the standards for outstanding early years care.
  • Planning & Observing: Contribute to activity planning, child observations, and development records to support children’s learning and development effectively.
  • Teamwork: Adhere to schedules, routines, and requests from supervisors and management with a positive and collaborative attitude.
  • Communicating Effectively: Foster professional and friendly communication with children, parents, and colleagues, ensuring all interactions are courteous and welcoming.
  • Maintaining Confidentiality: Handle all information about children, families, and staff with care and discretion, respecting privacy at all times.
  • Encouraging Creativity: Help develop a stimulating and imaginative environment that inspires children to learn, explore, and grow.
  • Offering Flexible Support: Be prepared to support other areas of the nursery and occasionally work at different sites as requested by the management team.
  • Prioritising Professional Development: Take responsibility for your growth by attending training sessions, workshops, and meetings, and staying open to feedback and new learning opportunities.
  • Demonstrating Reliability: Ensure consistency of care by being punctual, maintaining regular attendance, and following procedures for reporting absences or requesting leave.
  • Safeguarding Children: Adhere to safeguarding procedures, always knowing what to do in the event of a concern or allegation.

Working Patterns

  • Our room seniors work a minimum of 32 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
  • Our working hours are shift basis between 7.15am and 6.15pm
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required due to staff meetings, training or conferences, however these are always arranged in advance and either time back or overtime is given.
