The ADHD Centre is looking for experienced Consultant Psychiatrists in Manchester, The North West, and London to join our expanding specialist neurodevelopmental service.
We are particularly interested in hearing from Consultant Psychiatrists who can provide face-to-face clinics in Manchester and London, either exclusively or alongside remote clinical work.
This opportunity may be particularly suited to consultant psychiatrists looking to develop or expand a specialist interest in ADHD and Autism alongside existing NHS, academic or private practice commitments. We offer flexible sessions, including weekday, evening and weekend opportunities.
We welcome applications from Adult and CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrists with established experience in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of ADHD and/or Autism.
About The ADHD Centre
The ADHD Centre is an established specialist independent neurodevelopmental service providing assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care for adults and children with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Conditions.
Our service is consultant-led and supported by a multidisciplinary team of experienced clinicians. We are committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based, compassionate and patient-centred care, with robust clinical governance and administrative support.
As our Manchester and London services continues to grow, we are expanding our local consultant team to increase access to specialist face-to-face ADHD and Autism services across Manchester, The North West and London.
The Role
As a Consultant Psychiatrist with The ADHD Centre, you will provide specialist assessment and ongoing clinical management for adults and/or children presenting with ADHD and/or Autism.
Depending upon your experience and interests, your work may include:
- Comprehensive ADHD assessments and diagnostic evaluations
- Autism assessments as part of our multidisciplinary pathway
- Initiation and management of ADHD medication
- Titration and treatment reviews
- Ongoing psychiatric follow-up
- Clinical reports and correspondence with GPs and other healthcare professionals
- Shared Care Agreement recommendations where clinically appropriate
- Collaboration with psychologists and other members of our multidisciplinary team
Consultants may choose to undertake face-to-face clinics in Manchester or London, remote clinics, or a combination of both.
Key Responsibilities
You will be expected to:
- Undertake comprehensive ADHD and/or Autism assessments for adults and/or children
- Make appropriate diagnoses in accordance with recognised diagnostic criteria and current clinical guidance
- Formulate individualised, evidence-based treatment and management plans
- Prescribe and monitor ADHD medication where clinically appropriate, in accordance with current NICE guidance and the BNF
- Undertake follow-up and medication review appointments
- Maintain clear, accurate and timely clinical records
- Produce high-quality assessment reports and clinical correspondence
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, GPs and other healthcare professionals
- Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary clinical team
- Participate appropriately in clinical governance and maintain high standards of patient safety
- Work in accordance with GMC professional standards and The ADHD Centre's clinical policies and procedures
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Full GMC registration with a current Licence to Practise
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Psychiatry
- At least one year of relevant clinical experience within neurodevelopmental/neurodiversity services
- Demonstrable experience in the assessment and diagnosis of ADHD and/or Autism
- Relevant experience working with adults and/or children and young people, according to your area of practice
- Experience in prescribing and monitoring ADHD medication where applying to undertake ADHD treatment
- A good working knowledge of relevant NICE guidance and the BNF
- Excellent clinical communication and report-writing skills
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary service
- A strong commitment to patient safety, clinical governance and high-quality neurodevelopmental care
For Manchester and London clinic-based opportunities, applicants should be able to undertake regular face-to-face clinical sessions in Manchester and London.
Desirable Criteria
We would particularly welcome applicants with:
- Previous experience in private or independent healthcare
- Experience across both Adult and CAMHS neurodevelopmental services
- Experience of multidisciplinary Autism assessment
- ADOS-2 and/or other recognised Autism assessment tool experience
- Experience conducting high-quality remote psychiatric assessments
- Section 12 approval
- An interest in clinical leadership, education, service development or clinical governance

Location Manchester
We are particularly seeking consultants who are based in Manchester or the wider North West and who would be interested in providing regular face-to-face clinics from our Manchester service.
Hybrid arrangements combining Manchester clinic sessions with remote UK-based work are also available.
