Full job description

Are you an organised, proactive individual with a passion for delivering high‑quality administrative support to help provide the best possible patient care? If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Histopathology Medical Secretary to join our dedicated secretarial team at Southend Hospital. In this vital role, you will perform a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties, supporting our clinical teams and ensuring the smooth, efficient running of the Histopathology service.

If you are committed, detail‑focused, and ready to play an important part in supporting patient care, please apply today—we’d be delighted to consider your application.

Provide comprehensive administrative support to Consultant Histopathologists, Specialty Drs, Specialist Registrars, and senior technical staff within a large and busy administrative team.

Process diagnostic reports efficiently and accurately, ensuring all patient pathways are managed in a timely manner and in accordance with national Cancer Waiting Times standards.

Support the smooth running of the histopathology service, contributing to effective communication, coordination, and workflow management across the department.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.

We look forward to your application!
