Job Description – Receptionist

Job Title:

Receptionist / Telephonist/Computer Operator - ]

Working days - Monday 0800-14:30, Thursday 1300 - 1700

and Friday 1300 - 1830

(applicant will also be expected to pick up holiday cover)

Job Purpose:

To ensure that the reception area of the Practice runs smoothly, provides a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team

Duties and Responsibilities

Telephone Duties

1.

Making appointments

2.

Taking requests for prescriptions (Not over the phone!)

3.

Giving out results

4.

Transferring telephone to OOH / Other Surgery as required

5.

Home visit requests

6.

Deal with general enquiries and complaints

7.

Contacting other providers/Agencies as required

Reception Duties

8.

Register new patients and temporary residents

9.

Greet and direct patients and visitors

10.

Making appointments

11.

Prepare documentation / specimens for the NHS Courier

12.

Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary

13.

Respond to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery

14.

Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services

15.

Deal with general enquiries and complaints

16.

Managing & Maintaining Diseases registers (As allocated)

17.

Monitoring incoming emails

18.

Sending emails on GP request

19.

Sending texts to patients using AccuRx

19a

Action ‘Patient Tasks’ as required

Filing

20.

Routine filing as required

Prescriptions

21.

Signpost patients with requests or queries on repeat prescriptions

22.

Raising Prescription as per practice protocols if suitable trained

General

23.

Input and extract information from Practice computer system

24.

Observe health and safety guidelines at all times

25.

General housekeeping (e.g. keeping reception and waiting areas tidy)

26.

Cross site working

27.

Holiday / Sickness cover

28.

Any other reasonable duties as necessary

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From £12.71 per hour

Expected hours: 16.0 per week
