Medical Receptionist – Maternity Cover


Location: Scotter (with occasional cover in Kirton)
Pay: £12.71 per hour

Are you friendly, organised, and passionate about supporting patients? We’re looking for a Medical Receptionist to join a busy, welcoming medical practice on a maternity cover contract. This is a rewarding role at the heart of patient care within a supportive clinical team.


Working Hours


Tuesday: 1:30pm – 5:30pm
Wednesday: 9:00am – 1.00pm & 1:30pm – 6:30pm
Friday: 8:30am - 1:00pm & 1:30pm - 6:00pm

Total: 21.5 hours per week


Role Overview

As the first point of contact for patients, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the practice. You’ll manage the reception area, support clinical staff, and help patients access the care they need with professionalism and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Appointment management - Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system
  • Patient communication - Process appointment requests via phone, in person, and online
  • Call handling - Answer and direct calls promptly and professionally
  • Service signposting - Guide patients to the correct services
  • Team coordination - Act as a communication link between patients, clinicians, and external providers
  • General admin - Provide administrative support to the wider team


What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
  • Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential
  • Patient‑focused attitude with excellent attention to detail
  • Flexibility to occasionally travel to Kirton
  • Access to own vehicle due to location


Additional Information

  • Overtime available to cover annual leave and sickness
