GP Receptionist/Medical Secretary Role – Newthorpe Medical Practice

Eastwood, Nottingham

Newthorpe Medical Practice is a friendly GP surgery with approximately 8200 patients. Based in Eastwood, we offer patients a full range of primary care services in comfortable, modern surroundings. We pride ourselves on our ‘can do’ attitude and on providing an approachable and welcoming service to all our patients.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy admin team in a combined role of GP Receptionist and Medical Secretary.

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service and communication skills, be articulate and well organised, have a keen eye for detail, and possess good IT skills.

Previous experience of working in a GP practice is not essential. Training and support will be provided for the right candidate who is keen to develop their skills and knowledge within general practice.

Main Duties of the Role

You will work as part of our busy reception team, helping to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care and service. You will also support our secretarial team with a range of administrative and medical secretarial duties, including typing referrals, letters and reports.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

· Liaising with patients both over the telephone and at the reception desk

· Booking and managing appointments

· Actioning tasks

· Processing prescription requests

· Undertaking associated administrative duties

· Providing medical secretarial support, including typing referrals, letters and reports

Salary

· Band 2 for reception duties

· Band 3 for secretarial duties

· We follow Agenda for Change pay scales

Working Hours

Monday: 12pm to 5pm - secretarial

Tuesday: 1pm to 6pm – reception

Wednesday: 8am to 1pm – reception

Thursday: off

Friday: 9am to 1pm reception

2pm to 6pm secretarial
