Job Summary

We are seeking a professional and organised Medical Receptionist to provide maternity cover within our busy healthcare practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent patient service, managing administrative tasks efficiently, and supporting the smooth operation of the reception area. This role offers an opportunity to work in a friendly environment where attention to detail and excellent communication skills are highly valued. The position is temporary, with the potential for extension or future opportunities within the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure
  • Managing appointment scheduling, confirmations, and cancellations with accuracy
  • Handling patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and updating information as needed
  • Answering phone calls, responding to enquiries, and directing calls appropriately
  • Managing correspondence including emails and postal mail
  • Assisting with administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and document organisation
  • Ensuring the reception area is tidy, welcoming, and well-stocked with necessary materials
  • Supporting the clinical team with administrative support as required

Experience

  • Previous office experience or administrative experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
  • Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy environment
  • Proficiency in using standard office software (e.g., MS Office) is desirable
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous but not mandatory

This role requires a proactive individual who can adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining a professional demeanour. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality service in a supportive team environment.

Pay: £13.00 per hour
