Full job description
Are you passionate about supporting a positive workplace culture? Due to an internal promotion, we’re seeking a proactive and organised Engagement & Organisational Development (OD) Assistant to join our Workforce division at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. Working in the Engagement and OD team, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality admin support, helping us make a positive impact on the colleague experience, wellbeing and effectiveness of our organisation and creating an inclusive and engaging environment for all colleagues.
This is full-time Band 3 role (37.5 hours per week) and is a hybrid role based at our Withington site and home working
Please note that, due to scheduling commitments, interviews will be held in the week commencing 20 July 2026.
You’ll be the first point of contact for Engagement and OD enquiries, managing inboxes and responding to routine queries. You’ll support the planning and delivery of colleague events, coordinate logistics, book rooms and equipment, and manage delegate communications.
You’ll maintain accurate records and databases, raise purchase orders, monitor office supplies, and assist with diary management.
You’ll also help prepare promotional materials and contribute to a positive, inclusive working environment. Attention to detail, initiative, and a customer-focused mindset are key.
As the role sits within the wider Workforce division, you’ll also support the senior management team with diary management, room bookings and general administration.
The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.
We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years.
We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.
You’ll join a friendly, inclusive team committed to improving colleague experience and engagement. We value collaboration, creativity, and a flexible, proactive approach. You’ll be encouraged to develop your skills and contribute ideas.
You’ll also work closely with colleagues across the Workforce division, supporting a wide range of activities including health and wellbeing and our wide range of equality, diversity and inclusion staff networks. We care for each other and our environment, and we’re proud to support better patient care through a positive working environment

3. Coordinate events by liaising with various departments, booking rooms and equipment, and setting up meeting spaces. Ensure all necessary items are present and address any potential issues with room size or location.
4. Manage delegate communications, including sending invites, maintaining attendance lists, and providing joining instructions. Meet and greet delegates as required.
5. Print and distribute posters, handouts, and other materials for sessions, events, and inductions. Ensure satellite sites receive the information if appropriate. 6. Set up displays and noticeboards for promotional events as directed.
7. Undertake diary management for the Engagement and OD team as required. Support divisional team diary management on occasion.
8. Use Trust systems to raise purchase orders for the procurement of items and services. Ensure these are coded accurately and actioned in a timely way.
9. Monitor supplies and maintain stock levels for stationary items and order equipment and materials ahead of running low. Liaise with colleagues in other departments to assist with purchasing or delivery of items, e.g. digital helpdesk, finance, porters
10. Assist team members with administrative tasks, such as preparing reports or gathering information, and act as a point of contact for information.
11. Maintain orderly electronic files and input/manage data in databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness. This includes information on staff benefits, awards, training, and evaluations. Proactively adopt new technologies, including Office 365 apps, to enhance efficiency. Ensure all information is securely stored and accessible to authorized personnel.
12. Contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the division by completing routine tasks and assisting with other duties as required.
13. Be efficient, helpful and courteous and able to work unsupervised and prioritise own workload.
14. Pay attention to detail and a positive, pragmatic attitude to all tasks. Use own initiative to find solutions to problems that arise, seeking direction as required.
