About this job
You’ll teach Electrical and Electronic Engineering across Levels 4 to 6, helping students build the technical knowledge, practical confidence and professional standards they need for higher technical study, apprenticeships, university and engineering careers.
This role is for someone who understands engineering in practice and can make complex ideas clear. You’ll teach subjects including Control Engineering (L6), Circuits, Networks and Electromagnetic Waves (L6), Further Electrical and Electronic Principles (L5), Professional Engineering Project (L4-6) to help students connect theory with real engineering problems.
You’ll be part of our University Centre and engineering team, supporting students through teaching, assessment, feedback and personal tutoring while helping us keep the curriculum current, industry-relevant and focused on the skills our region needs.


What you'll do


  • Teach Electrical and Electronic Engineering across Levels 4 to 6, helping students connect theory with real engineering practice.
  • Bring specialist subjects to life, including Control Engineering (L6), Circuits, Networks and Electromagnetic Waves (L6), Further Electrical and Electronic Principles (L5), Professional Engineering Project (L4-6)
  • Use practical examples, engineering software and applied learning to help students build technical knowledge, confidence and problem-solving skills.
  • Assess work, give clear feedback and help students understand how to improve their technical understanding, academic skills and professional standards.
  • Support students as a Personal Tutor, helping them stay on track and plan their next steps into higher technical study, apprenticeships, university or engineering careers.
  • Work with colleagues to keep the curriculum current, industry-relevant and focused on the skills our region needs.

What you'll bring


  • A master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related area would be an advantage.
  • A degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a closely related subject.
  • Strong technical knowledge in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, including Engineering Science, Engineering Mathematics and Electrical Principles.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink and Multisim, with the ability to use relevant software to support teaching, modelling, simulation and assessment.
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent, or willingness to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.
  • The ability to explain complex engineering concepts clearly to students at different levels.
  • Confidence using assessment, feedback and progress information to help students improve.
