Early Years Practitioner – Bank Job Description


Report to: Nursery Manager


Role Purpose


The role of this post will be to lead and promote the teaching, care and welfare of children at the Nursery. The post will also help in the support and training of students and trainees at the Nursery.


To work in partnership with the Room Manager to ensure the day to day operation of the nursery is kept to high standard, in line with company policy and ensuring compliance with the Children Act 2006 (Childcare and Education Law), Ofsted Common Inspection Framework, and associated Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, all relevant Health and Safety, Employment Law legislation and any actions set by Ofsted.


CHILDCARE AND EDUCATION


Provide an environment where children’s safeguarding and welfare needs are fully met.


Undertaking the Key Person role and offer the care and support to enable children to build strong trusting relationships in a stimulating atmosphere.


Work with the staff in the room in the planning and preparation of activities to develop all aspects of the child’s individual development.


Helping to provide an appropriate programme of learning activities in a stimulating and learning environment for the children.


Provide a stimulating welcoming environment and a wide range of activities which ensure that children are highly motivated and eager to join in each day.


Assisting in the induction and settling in of children attending the Nursery.


Ensure that assessment information is used to plan appropriate teaching and learning strategies for individual children.


Carrying out observations and evaluations of children, and producing reports on individual needs of the children as required.


To assist the Room Manager in children transition.


Assisting with the supervision of children’s meals.


To actively promote British Values in the nursery.


Promote and maintain good-working relationships between the Nursery and parents/carers at all times.


STAFFING


To assist and support the early years practitioners in creating room displays.


Develop open and positive working relationships with staff.


To provide staff cover within the nursery periodically, as requested by the management team.


WELFARE / SAFEGUARDING


To assist the Room Manager in ensuring children with complex medical needs are met at all times.


To undertake Safeguarding duties at all times.


To comply with Treehouse Nursery School Safeguarding policy.


To whistle blow any Radicalisation signs to the Lead Safeguarding Officer.


HEALTH AND SAFETY


To carry out regular Risk Assessments in the room and to ensure all mandatory information is obtained before going out on trips.


To be responsible for the Health and Safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children and ensuring staff compliance and awareness.


Assisting with the keeping and monitoring of accident, incident, medication forms, risk assessment and attendance


To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times. This includes daily cleaning rotas, nappy changing, and other nursery / housekeeping duties.


Maintaining the Nursery’s equipment and stock as appropriate and keeping the room clean and safe all the times


CONDUCT


To be fully up to date with the welfare requirements of the “Early Years Foundation Stage” and ensure that your practice meets and aims to exceed the requirement.


Work in partnership with parents to provide consistent high quality, non-discriminatory child care which meets the needs of each individual child and family and which enables the child to realise his/her full potential and achieve a good self- image and self – esteem. .


Welcome parents and children on their settling in days and assist them in the room.


Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers.


Develop and maintain friendly and professional relationships with parents and carers.


Ensure that all work carried out is done in the best interest of Treehouse Nursery and will strive to ensure that every effort is made to promote the work and good reputation of the Nursery at all times.
