Full job description

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service prioritises the wellbeing of its staff with a focus on positive mental health and overall wellbeing. We are currently looking for a highly experienced clinician with the expertise and alignment to the SFRS Values to join our Wellbeing team as Health and Wellbeing Manager (Occupational Health Clinical Lead).

This is a full-time post, and the location of this role is flexible. Applications from individuals seeking hybrid or flexible working options will be considered. This role will require travel across Scotland.

As the Health and Wellbeing Manager (Occupational Health Clinical Lead) you’ll play a key role, leading the delivery of the Occupational Health Service within the SFRS. Working as part of the Health, Safety, Wellbeing & Assurance Team, you will manage the activities of our Health and Wellbeing nurse led occupational health service, ensuring the professional, effective and efficient delivery of high-quality evidence-based practice, in line with clinical governance standards. You will also provide clinical leadership, expert advice and support, with responsibility for making final and determining specialist decisions, dealing with the most complex cases. You will develop and implement clinical policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health, safety and wellbeing legislative requirements, as well as monitor and report on clinical performance metrics and outcomes. The role requires you to lead on projects that promote health and wellbeing within SFRS, producing and analysing data to inform organisational activity. You will represent the SFRS on relevant professional groups, networks and forums and provide support and enable continued professional development within the team, to ensure core skills and clinical registrations are maintained.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.

This post is subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. The successful candidate will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and will be required to carry out regulated work with adults.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is an Equal Opportunities employer and encourage applications from all sectors of the community. In addition, we are committed to being a “Disability Confident Employer” and will ensure that all applicants who meet the essential criteria for the role are invited for interview.
