Occupational Health Technician

Salary: £26,000 – £27,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Salary: £26,000 per annum, increasing to £27,000 following successful completion of the 4-month probationary period, subject to meeting agreed performance targets.

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, usually between 8am and 6pm

About the Role

We are seeking Occupational Health Technicians to join an expanding peripatetic team. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will travel to client sites using a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), delivering high-quality health surveillance services to employees across a range of industries.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and reliable individual looking to develop their skills and experience within Occupational Health. Full training will be provided through a 3-week Training and Induction Programme, followed by ongoing mentoring and support.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct health surveillance screenings, including audiometry, lung function testing and baseline measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure and urinalysis.
• Accurately record medical information within occupational health records and ensure relevant information is passed to the appropriate clinical staff.
• Maintain all equipment to ensure it is clean, serviceable and fit for purpose.
• Support health promotion activities and other occupational health services as required.
• Gather and accurately record information to support clinical decision-making.
• Provide biometric data through screening procedures to enable nursing and physician staff to make informed decisions regarding patient management.
• Work independently while also contributing effectively as part of the wider occupational health team.

About You

We are looking for a self-motivated and organised individual with excellent communication and time management skills.

You will need to be confident working independently, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines, while also building positive relationships with clients, colleagues and employees.

A good understanding of GDPR is essential, along with the ability to deliver health promotion and health surveillance services effectively.

• It could also be an excellent opportunity for a Sports Science graduate looking to take their first step into a healthcare environment, provided you have experience carrying out baseline measurements.

Essential Requirements

• Valid manual UK driving licence.
• You must have held your driving licence for a minimum of 12 months.
• You must be aged 21 or over.
• You will be required to provide a driving licence share code.
• You must have the ability to park the Mobile Medical Unit at or near your home address overnight.
• You must be comfortable with regular travel and overnight stays.

Travel and Overnight Stays

Regional travel with occasional nationwide travel.

During the initial weeks of employment, you may be required to use your own vehicle or a company-provided hire car until a new company van is available.

To support you while travelling, you will receive subsistence for each night away from home, have access to a Premier Inn account for accommodation bookings and be provided with a fuel card.

You will also have visibility of your diary 6 weeks in advance to help with planning.
