Textile Operative – Weaver

About us

AW Hainsworth is a historic and prestigious textile manufacturer that also produces fabrics for the Royal Household. Established in 1783, Hainsworth has been responsible for weaving the look of iconic England ever since. Many of the famous images that celebrate Great Britain feature Hainsworth cloth — from the striking scarlet of the Royal Guards to the ceremonial uniforms worn by the Royal Family and the military attire of the Charge of the Light Brigade.

The Role

We are recruiting a Textile Operative - Weaver to join our Weaving Department on rotating shift. Previous weaving experience is essential.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Learn quickly
  • Communicate effectively and work well in a team
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, including fault finding and identifying yarn defects
  • Manage and prioritise their own workload
  • Work confidently on their own when required
  • Remain calm under pressure
  • Maintain a positive and practical housekeeping ethic
  • Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety matters

Your duties will include:

  • Running and monitoring the operation of weaving machines
  • Ensuring woven cloth meets quality specifications off the loom
  • Maximising machine efficiency and performance
  • Tying weaving knots to the correct standard
  • Moving pieces from the loom and handling products safely
  • Engaging in quality and continuous improvement processes
  • Following all work instructions accurately
  • Working safely and identifying potential issues before they arise
  • Cleaning and maintaining machine areas
  • Ensuring correct yarns and counts are selected and allocated for use
  • Carrying out any other tasks related to weaving production

Working Hours

Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm (30-minute unpaid break each day)

Week 2: Monday to Thursday, 2:00pm – 12:00mn (30-minute unpaid break each day)
